Fiverr is an international freelance services platform where it is not you who looks for the client, but the client who looks for you. The seller lists a service with a clear price and deadline (on the platform it is called a “Gig”), and the buyer purchases it much like a product in an online shop. In Lithuania Fiverr is searched for about 5 400 times a month – more often than any other platform of this kind.

This part of the guide covers how Fiverr works for a seller from Lithuania: how to create a service, how much the platform takes, when and how the money is withdrawn, and how you move up through the levels. Fees and deadlines were checked in Fiverr's payment terms and help centre in October 2026.

In short

  • The seller keeps 80% of the order amount – Fiverr takes 20%.
  • The buyer additionally pays a 5.5% service fee, and for orders up to 200 USD another 3.50 USD.
  • Earned money can be withdrawn 14 days after the order is completed.
  • Prices are set in US dollars, the minimum price of a service is 5 USD.

How Fiverr works

  1. You create a seller profile and list one or several services.
  2. The buyer finds the service through search, chooses a package and pays the platform.
  3. The buyer fills in the requirements you have set – only then does the delivery time start counting.
  4. You do the work and deliver it through the order page.
  5. Once the buyer approves it, the order is marked as completed and 80% of the amount is credited to your earnings.

All communication and payments take place on the platform. The buyer pays in advance, so there is almost no risk of not being paid for completed work – but in the event of a dispute the decision is made by the platform.

How to create a service (Gig)

A service can be created and edited only in a desktop browser – you will not be able to do it on a phone or in the app. Creation consists of six steps.

StepWhat you fill inLimits and notes
1. OverviewTitle, category, keywordsThe title begins with “I will…”. Up to 5 keywords. The category cannot be changed after publishing
2. Scope and pricingUp to three packages: Basic, Standard, PremiumFor each – a delivery time in days, the number of revisions and a price in USD. The minimum price is 5 USD, more in some categories
3. Description and FAQService description, frequently asked questionsDescription up to 1 200 characters, up to 10 questions
4. RequirementsQuestions for the buyer before work beginsMark the most important ones as mandatory – the order will not start without them
5. GalleryPhotos, video, PDFAt least one photo is required, up to three are allowed. Recommended size 1280 × 769 px. Up to two PDF samples
6. PublishingIdentity and tax informationYou need to verify your phone and identity. EU sellers may have to fill in the DAC7 form

A published service is checked automatically and, if it complies with the rules, becomes visible in search. A new seller can have up to 4 active services at a time.

What is worth doing before publishing

  • Describe the service narrowly: “logo for a café” is found more easily than “graphic design”.
  • Use only your own work for the gallery – images taken from the internet are prohibited.
  • Set the delivery time with a margin: late orders harm your rating more than a longer delivery time.
  • In the requirements, ask for everything you need to start the work, so that you do not have to exchange messages while the clock is already running.
  • Do not change the essence of the service later. If you want to offer something else, create a new service – the reviews stay linked to the original one.

How much Fiverr takes

Fiverr's payment terms state that for every successfully completed order 80% of the purchase amount is credited to the seller's account. In other words, the platform's commission for the seller is 20%.

On top of the service price the buyer also pays a service fee: 5.5% of the purchase amount and, if the order is below 200 USD, an additional 3.50 USD small order fee. The seller does not receive this fee, but it matters for pricing: the buyer sees the final amount, not the one you set.

The price you setThe buyer paysCredited to you (80%)
20 USD24.60 USD16 USD
50 USD56.25 USD40 USD
100 USD109 USD80 USD
300 USD316.50 USD240 USD

The table is calculated using the amounts stated in the payment terms; taxes of the buyer's country may also be applied to the buyer's amount. From your share you will later pay the payout fee and taxes in Lithuania.

When and how to withdraw the money

Earnings do not become available straight away. The payment terms provide for a safety clearance period: 14 days from the order being marked as completed. For sellers of the highest level (Top Rated) this period is 7 days.

Payout methodFiverr fee
PayPal account0 USD
Local bank transfer (via Payoneer)3 USD per transfer
Fiverr Revenue Card (via Payoneer)1 USD within 2 days or 3 USD within 2 hours

These are only the fees charged by Fiverr. The payment service provider or the bank may apply its own currency exchange rate and fees, so check their price lists before choosing a method. Since earnings accumulate in dollars, currency conversion is one more expense worth including in the price.

Seller levels

Fiverr divides sellers into four levels: new seller, Level 1, Level 2 and Top Rated. The level depends on six metrics, and sellers for Top Rated are additionally selected by the platform's own assessment.

MetricLevel 1Level 2Top Rated
Success Score5+7+9+
Rating4.4+4.6+4.7+
Response rate80%90%90%
Orders52040
Unique clients31020
Earnings400 USD2 000 USD10 000 USD

A higher level gives more options: Level 1 and Level 2 sellers can have up to 10 services, Top Rated – up to 30; from Level 1 you can advertise through Fiverr Ads and offer subscriptions; Top Rated sellers get priority support and faster payouts. A level can also drop: if the metrics get worse, a 30-day period is given to improve them.

Who Fiverr suits and who it does not

SuitableNot suitable
For clearly defined, repeatable services: a logo, a translation, video editing, text editingFor long projects of undefined scope where the price has to be negotiated
For beginners who do not yet have a circle of clientsFor those who want to compete on low price alone – there are very many such sellers on the platform
For services that can be sold in English to the whole worldFor services that require Lithuanian or knowledge of the local market

Fiverr's main drawbacks are the 20% commission and dependence on the platform's search. That is why many sellers use it as a first step: they collect reviews and work samples while building a circle of direct clients in parallel. Just remember that the rules prohibit inviting clients found on the platform to pay outside it.

Taxes in Lithuania

Income from Fiverr is income from activity that has to be declared in Lithuania. The platform may ask EU sellers for DAC7 information – this is an EU rule under which platforms report sellers' income to tax administrators. Which form of activity suits you is explained in the ACS.lt article “Self-employment: registration certificate or business certificate”. The Fiverr commission is a service purchased from a foreign company, so it is worth consulting an accountant about VAT obligations.
